Lucknow Fennel is a sweet, grassy variety known for having bright green, small, ridged seeds that can be applied to savory and sweet dishes alike. Ours is grown in the hot, arid northern state of Rajasthan in India on the family farm of our partner farmer, Negi. We love these seeds tempered in oil or ghee with cumin and chili flakes and poured over roasted root vegetables, added to a poaching liquid for fish or crushed and rolled into a shortbread dough.

Fennel seed is an ancient spice that has been used to add a sweet, anise-like flavor to dishes throughout the Eurasian continent for thousands of years.

Fennel is the seed that forms after the lacy flowers of the towering fennel plant (plants can reach over 6 feet tall!) have bloomed. Many parts of the fennel plant are edible including the frilly leaves and in some varieties, the bulb as well and the seeds are used widely as a digestive aid.

Unrelenting emails

It was great until I started receiving an onslaught of unsolicited emails - like the one I’m responding to now. Please stop.

Love B and B!

This fennel is fantastic. Especially good in pork dishes.

Grinder top issues

I love the fennel flavor but the grinder doesn’t work. Grinder doesn’t work for my oregano buds either.

Have never been a fan of fennel, however, seeing it is from B&B I thought I would give it a try. Boy am I glad I did! I had salmon in France and the chef was nice enough to give me his extraordinary recipe... so easy and delicious. I just made the salmon with the B&B Lucknow fennel and it was fantastic!! Makes me drool just writing about it! I made my king salmon prior to receiving my B&B fennel, with fennel from another spice store. Never used it on anything but my salmon. However, now I will probably be trying it on other foods and try out recipes avoided as they contained fennel. As always, great product B&B! To say I have a love affair with B&B because of their products and customer service would be an understatement! Thanks!
